Jack Barker
Cortland, NY

  • Jack has been involved in fast and slow pitch softball for over 30 years.

  • He has played, coached, and managed numerous teams, but has made his mark with the women's slow pitch team jack's Taxidermy.

  • Jack is considered a tough but very fair manager who shares his knowledge of the game to everyone.

  • Between 1977 and 1998, his teams have compiled a record of 314 wins against only 40 losses.

  • For three consecutive years they were undefeated going 49 straight games without a loss.

  • During this period the team has won 19 City Championships.

  • They were the New York State Champions in 1988, 1990, and again in 1998.

  • In 1986, they competed in the ASA Nationals, finishing a respectable 14th.

  • In 1997, Jack's team also captured the prestigious Shirley Bilodeau Memorial Award for his outstanding leadership.

  • Jack still competes in various leagues in Senior Softball.

  • Playing with the Cortland Bulldogs as a pitcher, his team captured the Central new York League Championship.

  • Also playing with the Syracuse Cyclones, his team recently finished third in the Dorchester Canadian International Tournament, held in London, Ontario.

  • A fine competitor, manager, and sponsor, Jack is a welcome addition to the New York State ASA Hall of Fame.
