Robert "Downtown" Bobby Brown
Fort Montgomery, NY

  • Bobby played from 1967-1988 and was one of the premier power hitters in the Hudson Valley. From 1974 until 1988, Bob hit for an average of .537 a season, with a high of .715 in 1976.
  • Bob played Modified Pitch Softball for Master Marino's Team, in the Northern Rockland and Dutchess Leagues.
  • In addition to Modified, Bobby played State Slow Pitch Tournament ball for teams such as Peter's Exxon, Southgate Tavern, and Bear Mountain Inn.
  • He played on 7 league champion and 8 playoff champion teams in his career, spanning 14 years in the Highland Falls League.
  • Bobby was a slick fielding first baseman with extraordinary power. In August 1982, he celebrated with the 500th home run of his career.
  • Bob earned honors in the Deershead Tournament in 1971 and 1973, and has also won many gold Glove Awards for his fielding skills.
  • Sports Editor, Bob Gill, once called Bobby the Hank Aaron of Highland Falls.
  • He led the Highland Falls League in home runs from 1974-1978 and 1980-1982, a total of eight years.
  • He played in over 500 league games in three different leagues and in over 100 tournament games.
  • Bob played on 8 New York State Championship Teams in Class "A" & "B".
  • Bobby has been a role model in his community, in addition to his athletic ability and certainly deserves his place in the Francis Mott New York State Hall of Fame.
