Angelo "Butch" Veronesi
Poughkeepsie, NY

  • Butch is a graduate of Bridgeport University, with a B.S. in Business Administration. He attended college on a baseball scholarship.

  • He was selected First Team All New England and Second Team All American in both his Junior and Senior years.

  • Butch was voted the Most Valuable Player of his college team in 1965 & 1966. Winning the batting crow in in 1965 with a .398 average.

  • After college, he joined the Poughkeepsie Brewers Softball Team, playing on many New York State and Eastern Regional Championship teams.

  • He was named the Brewer's Most Valuable Player in 1973, leading the team to a third place finish in the Nationals. He was selected to the First Team All World team as a shortstop.

  • In 1974, he was selected to play in the ASA National All Star Game in Clearwater, Florida.

  • Butch was a member of 8 World Tournament teams while playing with the Poughkeepsie Brewers.

  • Among his many individual honors was the selection to the U.S. Fast Pitch Softball Team in the 1979 Pan Am Games. He was the starting third baseman on that team, and received a Silver Medal for the USA's 2nd place finish to Canada.

  • Other awards include receiving the Dutchess County Elks Award as the Outstanding Baseball Player in 1965 & 1966. And the Outstanding Softball Player in Dutchess County in 1973 & 1979. He was also named the Outstanding Athlete in Dutchess County in 1979 for his selection to the Pan Am Team.

  • Butch was selected to the Dutchess County Fast Pitch Hall of Fame in 1987.
