Ed Crane

· Ed was and still in instrumental in the success of the New York State ASA Umpires organization.

· In 1976, Ed worked with Commissioner Joe Costine in setting up and writing the Constitution, for the New York State ASA Umpires Association.

· He was Umpire-in-Chief for New York State from 1976-1984.

· He was elected President of the umpires council in 1984 and still serves in that capacity.

· Ed has worked numerous District, State, Regional and National Qualifiers.

· He has officiated in 5 ASA National Tournaments.

· Ed has been the umpire coordinator for 7 National Tournaments.

· He umpired women’s fast pitch in the National Sports Festival help in Colorado in 1983.

· In 1985 he umpired Women’s Fast Pitch in the World Games, held in London, England.

· In 1990 he umpired Women’s Fast Pitch in the Women’s World Championships held in Normal, Illinois.

· He umpired Men’s Fast Pitch in the 14th Maccabiah Games in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 1993.

· Ed is a certified ISF umpire.

· He was voted into the National ASA Indicator Fraternity in 1989.

· In 1990 he was selected into the New York State Indicator Fraternity.

· Ed is also the first umpire to receive the Mid-Atlantic Region, George Smith Memorial Award.
