![]() Dan Craver · Dan was a pitcher and a shortstop in his early playing days. He received most of his acclaim as a shortstop with an exceptional throwing arm. · During his pitching career, he compiled a record of 93 wins against 20 losses. · Dan was a consistent .300 hitter throughout his career and was considered a home run threat at all times. · He was a smart field general and was named captain of every team he played on. · Dan played with various teams, such as: Garafolo’s, Continetal Can, Howard Johnson, Easy Washers, Boyles of Schenectady and Haberies. He completed against powerhouses as: Clearwater Bombers, Tip Toptailors (both World Champs), Grumman Aircraft, Trinkas Manor, Chiaco Hotten-Tots, King and His Count and Joe Louis Bombers. · In his spare time Dan coached St. John the Baptist baseball team and also coached LeMoyne Giants football in Pop Warner and took them to San Jose, California where they lost 19-13. · He played in 10 city title championships, on 5 state champions and in 10 regionals. · While in the Navy aboard the USS Memphis, Dan pitched and played shortstop and led them to the “Fleet Championship”. · Dan also played in Italy, England, Australia, Hawaii, and Norfolk , Virginia. · Dan spent many hours teaching young boys and girls how to pitch fast pitch softball.
