![]() Bill Doxsey · Bill played and managed for 14 years in the Poughkeepsie slow pitch league. He was one of the original franchise holders. · He served as a league officer in the Poughkeepsie Slow Pitch League for a total of 24 years, serving as Vice-President – 5 years, President – 3 years and Secretary – 19 years. He is currently Vice-President/Secretary. · Bill played managed and coached for 17years in the Poughkeepsie Masters 35 and Over Slow Pitch League. He was one of the original franchise holders, serving on the Board of Directors since the beginning of the league, 1973. · He has been an ASA umpire since 1965, working both fast and slow pitch and was co-founder of the Hudson Valley ASA Softball Umpires Association in 1965. · Bill is a member of the Board of Directors of the Poughkeepsie ASA Softball Umpires Association, serving as rules clinician since 1983. · He attended ASA National Umpire schools held in E. Hartford, Connecticut in 1982 and in Baltimore, Maryland in 1986. · Bill was selected to umpire in many state and regional slow pitch tournaments in New York and New Jersey, including the Mid-Atlantic Regional Major Slow Pitch held in Sommersville and the New York Class “A” Regional held in Poughkeepsie, New York. · He was also selected to umpire at the Women’s Major Slow Pitch National Tournament held in Marietta, Georgia in 1982 and the Women’s Fast Pitch National Tournament held in Binghamton, New York in 1983. · Appointed District 5 UIC in 1977 · Appointed District 5 ASA District Commissioner in 1978. · Appointed ASA Deputy Commissioner in 1980, still serving. · Direct every state and regional tournament held in Dutchess County since 1978. · Served as editor of the New York State Handbook since 1987. · Appointed secretary of the commissioner’s council in 1988. · Elected President of the Commissioner’s Council in 1989. · Served as Master of Ceremonies of the New York State Hall of Fame Dinner in 1989 and 1990. · Selected to Dutchess County Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in 1982. · Selected to Dutchess County Sports Museum Hall of Fame in 1987.
