Rich Hoffman
Kingston, NY

  • Rich started pitching in 1964, while in the Navy.

  • While in the service, he was named MVP in the Confax Jax Tournament.

  • He was rated the best pitcher in the Kingston, Middletown, and Newburg area.

  • Rich pitched for top teams including the Red Whites and the Poughkeepsie Brewers.

  • In 1978, he pitched 57 consecutive scoreless innings, over a nine game span (an ASA record) in Major Fast Pitch competition.

  • He has pitched numerous no-run games.

  • He played in 12 New York State and 6 Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournaments.

  • Was named the MVP in the 1975 NYS Tournament.

  • Was named MVP in the Allentown Eastern Classic while pitching for the Poughkeepsie Brewers.

  • Was named MVP in the 1981 Mid-Atlantic Regional held in Patterson, New Jersey, while pitching for the Middletown All Stars.

  • In addition to his pitching, Rich was a powerful hitter with 229 home runs in ASA competition, an ASA record for home runs by a pitcher.

  • While pitching for the Brewers, Rich once led the Atlantic Seaboard League in Earned Run Average.

  • Because of a hip replacement, Rich was forced to retire in 1984.

  • Rich is a member of the Dutchess County Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame.
