Joe Morien
Medina, NY

  • Joe was one of the Premier Pitchers in the 1930s and 1940s.
  • He started pitching at the age of 15 for the Medina Northsiders, compiling a 13-0 record in his first year.
  • Joe has a career record of 586 wins against 103 losses, using his famous figure eight windup.
  • Three times he pitched against the great "Shifty" Gears, winning one, while losing tow very close games.
  • Joe spent most of his career with Garvers from Medina, considered by many to be the best team in Medina history.
  • Joe once pitched back to back no-hit games. Striking out 18 and 17 batters respectively.
  • He was elected to the Western New York Hall of Fame in 1974.
  • Joe was honored by Medina with a Joe Morien Day in 1975.
  • In addition to softball, Joe enjoys bowling and fishing and is active in Boy Scout adult work.
