Augustine "Augie" Passante
Highland, NY

  • Augie was a premier fast pitch softball player in Ulster County from 1975-1992.

  • He started his Major Fast Pitch career with the Poughkeepsie Brewers before moving to the Ric-Etta Team.

  • He was twice named MVP of the Highland Fast Pitch League and was also named MVP in the Poughkeepsie Fast Pitch League.

  • Augie competed in the Eastern Seaboard League, playing against the top competition in the United States.

  • He played on three NYS Championship Teams and was selected first team all star five times and was MVP in 1986.

  • He also played in 2 ISC Championships in 1989-1990.

  • Augie played in 10 Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournaments and made 3 Mid-Atlantic first team squads in 1986-1988.

  • Facing some of the best pitchers in the world like Ty Stofflet, Owen "Fog" Wohlford, John Dumah and Cliff Ong, Augie had more than 1200 base hits and over 100 walks, batting over .300 for each of his seasons.

  • In addition to his .350 lifetime batting average, Augie was also considered a strong third baseman.

  • A fierce competitor who loved to play fast pitch softball, Augie is a member of the Dutchess County Fast Pitch Hall of Fame, selected in 1992, following in the footsteps of his Dad who was selected in 1980. Augie's brother Rich is also a member of the DC Hall of Fame.
