 Bill Stewart · Bill played from 1969-1984 and was called the ‘fastest man in softball’ by many sportswriters. · A 1962 graduate of Linden McKinley, he completed his college work at Ohio State 1969. Bill joined the Aurora Seals the day after school closed. · He pitched for a fast pitch team, which won the city title and finished second in the state. · In 1967 he helped the Aurora Seamasters to the National Championship, at Springfield, Missouri, batting .371. · In 1968 Bill played center field for the World Champion Seamasters and set a new record batting average of .522 · Bill played for the Poughkeepsie Brewers from 1970 – 1974. Picked up by the Poughkeepsie Brewers for the 1970 Nationals, Bill helped the team to a pair of wins before being eliminated. · In 1980, Bill played for the ASA National Champion Peterbilt Western, hitting four home runs in the tournament. · Also in 1980, playing for the World Champion McArdale Cardila team from Michigan, Bill scored the winning run in the championship game against Canada. · Bill played on three ASA National Championship teams. In 1967 with Aurora, 1980 with Peterbilt Western and in 1982 with Peterbilt. · Bill is the only player selected for First Team All-American honors seven times.
