Rocco Veronesi
Poughkeepsie, NY

  • Prior to starting his softball career, Rocky was an outstanding baseball player in Dutchess County. In the late 1960’s and early 1970’s Rocky led the Poughkeepsie High School team in batting, RBI’s and was named the Dutchess County’s Most Valuable High School Baseball Player by the local Elk’s Lodge.
  • Rocky earned All-Region and all Mid-Hudson Conference selection while at Dutchess Community College and went on to two outstanding seasons playing for the University of Bridgeport.
  • In 1974 Rocky started his Major Fast Pitch Softball career with the national softball powerhouse Poughkeepsie Brewers. Rocky was and outstanding second baseman with tremendously soft hands and a great ability to turn the double play.
  • Rocky had a lifetime batting average of .290 and was the Brewer batting leader and M.V.P. in 1976, hitting .341, accumulating 30 RBI’s, with a slugging percentage of .479. That year Rocky also hit 5 home runs, with the most memorable coming of legendary Eddie Feigner of the King and His Court.
  • Rocky was named to several All-State and Regional All-Star Teams, including being named MVP of the 1975 Colonial Fast Pitch Tournament and the 1981 Allentown Tournament where we led the Brewers to the championship. He was a clutch performer who had many game saving defensive plays as well as game winning RBI’s during his career.
  • Rocky played in the Atlantic Seaboard League, arguably the best fast pitch league in the East, playing against such teams as Raybesto’s Cardinals and the Redding Rising Sun, both National Major Fast Pitch Champions. Rocky started on 11 State, 4 regional Championship teams and played in 4 National Major Fast Pitch Tournaments in his career.
  • Rocky is a member of the Dutchess County Softball Hall of Fame.
  • Rocky has continued his association with softball, coaching the Dutchess Debs Girl’s 18 under Junior Olympic softball team. Rocky was known for his tremendous sportsmanship, attitude and desire and has carried this over into his coaching career.
